COVID-19

COVID-19 is caused by a coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2. It is thought to be spread through respiratory droplets produced by coughs and sneezing of an infected person. Symptoms may appear 2-10 days after exposure to the virus.

Symptoms of the virus may include:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Types of Testing

Antigen testing can be performed for individuals that are between days 3 – 5 of symptoms. These results are available within 15 minutes of testing.

Molecular testing can be performed to confirm the diagnosis of COVID-19 after antigen testing has been done or for individuals that may not be tested in the 3 – 5 day window.
